Jesus Juice.
Given the chance to rename the newest venture, that’s what I’d call it. It’s what it’s about, Jesus and Juice. Let me explain.
This week I joined a friend of mine, Murathimi in starting Kijabe’s only juice shop, East Africa Juice Company. The Lord had given both of us the idea of juice over the past few months and though we were friends we never had talked about it, until about 2 weeks ago.
Because we had already been planning and waiting on the right time, it started fast. William had already rented the space, I had a business plan, we put our resources together and we were ready to go. There was one minor detail, neither of us had ever made juice. It’s Friday night, the day before the grand opening and we have no product.
This is a serious issue. I’m sure it’s gotta be a rule in the business world. You must have a product to start a business.
No worries though, we’re in Kenya. We pulled together our friends, got the blender and juicer fired up and within an hour we had the secret family recipe.
Opening day we sold over 120 glasses of juice, giving us a profit of over 2,000 ksh, or ten times the average daily wage.
Success… yes, but it’s not just about the juice- or the money. Over the past two weeks the business has allowed me to pour into Murathimi, a young man with a very bright future ahead of him. Our conversations go a lot deeper now, and I already see a stronger man than I did two weeks ago. I push him, and then he pushes me.
We also have “regulars” that come in every night. Whether it’s our speakers blasting Jake Hamilton and Kim Walker as we sing along, or William sharing how this is the Lords business and how blessed he is to be a part of it – people are hearing the gospel, through Juice.

How is God moving through the work of your hands? My intentions with juice were simply to help fund ministry in Kenya, but God wants to use us more than he wants to use our money. Who is He trying to reach through the skills He’s given you?
